ASCTE Leadership

President Matt Massey

Matt Massey is proud to serve as President of the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE), a first-of-its-kind public state magnet school for grades 9–12 in Huntsville, Alabama. Since its founding in 2018, he has led ASCTE to become a global model for integrating cyber technology and engineering resiliency across all disciplines. Under his leadership, the school has developed innovative curriculum, hands-on programs, and industry-aligned opportunities that prepare students from across the state for success in a rapidly evolving digital world. He works closely with partners in academia, industry, government, and the nonprofit sector to build a strong, forward-looking learning community.

Prior to ASCTE, Mr. Massey served as Superintendent of Madison County Schools, where he led 27 schools and more than 19,000 students. During his tenure, he championed advanced placement programs and expanded opportunities for students to earn college credit, earning recognition as Alabama District 9 Superintendent of the Year. With more than 25 years in education, including experience as a classroom mathematics teacher, he is a strong advocate for high expectations and student achievement.

A National Board Certified Teacher, Mr. Massey holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Math Education from Troy University, a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Mississippi, and both a Master’s degree and Educational Specialist certification in Educational Leadership from Samford University. His work continues to focus on advancing innovative education and expanding opportunities for students in Alabama and around the world.
