Academic Support
Good Standing Criteria
All students meet with the Dean of Students once a term to review their good standing status. Any student below honorable status will meet with the Dean of Students to develop a support plan based on an identified area of need.
Support Levels for Academic Success
Our support system is designed to meet students where they are and provide the guidance they need to succeed, all while ensuring they remain in good academic standing.
Exemplary (No Support Needed)
- Description: Students performing consistently well with 3.50+ in all core courses and proficiency in all ELTs.
- Goal: Maintain success while enjoying a full classroom experience.
- Action Steps: No additional support needed.
Level 1 - Monitoring (Preventative Support)
- Description: For students scoring between 3.25–3.49 in any core course. About 15–25% of students may need added support at this level.
- Goal: Provide proactive improvements to ensure success.
- Support Actions:

- Instructor-led improvement strategies like re-teaching or additional assessments during class or WIN (What I Need) time.
- Progress monitoring by instructors, shared with Navigators and the Dean of Students at mid and end of term.
- Students work closely with instructors to achieve proficiency or 3.50+ grades.
Level 2 - Needs Improvement (Targeted Support)
- Description: For students scoring below 3.25 in a core course or not advancing at Level 1. Around 5–15% of students will benefit from more focused support at this stage.
- Goal: Help students catch up academically or behaviorally with their peers.
- Support Actions:

- Continue tailored improvement strategies.
- Students remain in good standing but seek additional guidance to achieve progress.
Level 3 - Enhanced Support
- Description: For students scoring below 3.00 in a core course or below 3.25 in two or more courses. This level is designed for 1–5% of students needing advanced assistance.
- Goal: Deliver specialized instruction or behavioral support to ensure significant catch-up.
- Support Actions:

- Dean of Students crafts a personalized improvement plan.
- Additional support from Navigators to manage schedules and assignments.
- Strategies may include mandatory tutoring, additional WIN time, enhanced instructor support, parent involvement, and residential life resources.
Level 4 - Urgent Intervention
- Description: Students who require enhanced support for more than one term or complete a course with a grade below 3.00 progress to this level. This applies to 1–5% of students.
- Goal: Provide intensive, individualized interventions to address significant learning or behavioral gaps.
- Support Actions:

- Mandatory evening tutoring.
- Recovery programs or reinforced learning upon course completion.
- Collaborative interventions involving instructors, parents, and Navigators.
